ABSTRACT
Enteral nutrition is one of the important treatment modality in critically ill patients. Major nutritional issues for the neurocritically ill patients include accurate assessments of nutritional needs, delayed gastric emptying and decreased bowel motility. Although the initiation of enteral feeding for these patients is not guided by consensus guidelines, early enteral feeding within 24-48h appears clinically safe. Daily attention to the patients’ nutritional needs and response to feeding may protect against complications of enteral nutrition.
