ABSTRACT
Background: Hypothyroidism can cause diverse neuromuscular diseases such as myopathy, myasthenia gravis and peripheral neuropathy. It is rarely reported, however, myopathy with peripheral neuropathy due to hypothyroidism. Case Report: We experienced a 40 year-old man who developed simultaneous myopathy and median neuropathy due to Hashimoto’s thyroiditis. The clinical symptoms and thyroid hormone level are restored in the early phase of treatment but the serum creatine kinase level increased persistently. Conclusions: This is the first case report of a simultaneous occurrence of myopathy with median neuropathy due to hypothyroidism in Korea.
