ABSTRACT
Status epilepticus (SE) is a life-threatening medical emergency that requires prompt recognition and immediate treatment. Because of the variability of clinical manifestations of SE, it is difficult to recognize this emergent state, especially non-convulsive SE. Electroencephalography should be considered to identify SE as a cause of the altered mental status.
